NEWSLETTER
January 2004

Subscriptions

A gentle reminder that Club subscriptions are now due.  The cost is £10 for seniors,  £12 family,  £5 juniors and  £5 second claim.

The subscription includes public liability insurance but only those who have paid will be covered.  You can use your membership card at Horswills or Primera to obtain a discount.

While you’ve got your wallet out, don’t forget to purchase your Cycling Time Trials (nee RTTC) handbook from Ros.  These should be available at the end of January.

Club clothing

There is still some club clothing available from stock and a new batch is being ordered.  If you’ve got any special requests contact Paul Harris.

Remember that Club members get £10 off one item each year.

Club Room

The Club meets on Wednesday evenings around 8pm in the bar at the Broadstone Leisure Centre.  The venue will be available up to 7th April.  Why not come along to catch up on gossip and have a pint or a cuppa.

There is a charge £1 per head for non-members of the Leisure Centre – just pay at reception and say your with the cycle club.

British Cycling

Anyone wanting information regarding British Cycling (nee BCF) such as obtaining handbooks should contact Colin Price.

In addition to the established Thursday night TLI events at Barnsfield, BC will be holding events on Tuesdays from mid April.  Again for more info contact Colin.

Are you interested in coaching?  There’s the opportunity of attending a BC training course for an Activity Coach Award.  This will be held over 3 days on 21st Feb, 20th and 21st March at a venue in Basingstoke.  The cost is £110 but this will be refunded by the Dorset Cycling Development Group.  Once again Colin’s your man – but be quick, applications have to be in soon.

Cyclo Cross Event 23rd Nov 2003

The cyclo cross event held on a very wet Sunday 23rd November at Admiralty Park Holton Heath went off very well.

There were 34 senior riders, 5 schoolboys and 6 U/12s.  Sorry I can’t give the results because all copies were sent to the BCCA.  However, well done to Paul Jeffrey and Max

Baldock for their performances.

A big thank you to Birchmere for letting us use the site and heaps of praise to the volunteers who spent many hours clearing tracks and marking out the course.  Last but not least, thanks to the helpers at the HQ for looking after the signing on and refreshments table.

Events Calendar

There should be a club and open time trial events calendar enclosed with this newsletter.  Take note of those early season events – you’ll need to start sending entry forms off soon!!!

For those wanting something to aim for this season there are the EDCA and South DC competitions.  For info you can visit www.edca.org.uk/ and  www.southdc.org.uk/
